Thanks Kiddies

It seems as though one of the lovely little kiddies that I teach gave me **BIG SIGH** ringworm.... Yes, you heard it right, ringworm...

No, no no - it's not an actual worm!! What is ringworm you ask - it's a **BIG SIGH** fungus!!! It looks like a tiny little perfect red circle that itches! At least mine does!! It is actually pretty facinating in a gross fungus kind of way, LOL... I'll spare you with a picture - it's so small anyway - about the size of a pea.

I knew what it was the moment I saw it! But just to be safe I went over to the walk-in E.M.O(emergency medical office) just for clarification. While I was waiting in the room the nurse came in for the standard , "what are you hear for today?" kind of questions. I showed her the spot on my arm and mentioned that i thought I had a ringworm spot and I wanted the doctor to just confirm it. Would you believe the nurse had NO IDEA what ring worm was??? Isn't that a little wierd - we're talking about a nurse!! I don't know, I find it a little weird.. She looked at me like I was crazy!!

So anyway the doctor took one look at said, "yup, that's it! that's ringworm!" I was talking to him and he said it's pretty common in schools and daycares.. (It's funny cause I noticed a spot on one of my children's legs but didn't think anything of it at the time...)Then the doctor made some stupid joke about "fungus among us!" I wanted to die of embarassment - I don't know if I was embarassed for him or for myself, LOL...

So in 2 to 3 weeks I will be fungus free... All i need to do is apply over the counter ahtletes foot cream to the area!! I feel so gross I mean who likes to have a fungus among them?? Not me!!! it's nasty!!!!

**This Keeps Me Going**

So, like I mentioned on Monday - I had a case of the "Back To School Blues." But now that it is almost the weekend I'm feeling alittle better. (Thank God)

At the end of every school year I put together a "memory book" for each of my students. This is compiled of work they've completed throughout the year; writing, crafts, projects, and pictures. It makes for a nice keepsake!I also jot down sweet, funny phrases that I hear and type them out. Some prases make it and for obvious reasons other's don't.

I thought it would be fun to share some of the phrases that didn't make the cut. So with that said here are some of the things my students have said; **This keeps me going** through those long, drawn out weeks. And remember, my students are 5 & 6 year old Kindergarteners and they are really sweet kids. Ok, so here goes....

~"Divorce is when your Mommy lives in a big house and your Daddy lives in a small apartment."

~"Let's knock the hell out of the baby doll."

~"You can't be my friend today because I don't like your shirt."
~"Your hair looks much better in a ponytail."

~"Next week I'm going on Fu*kation." (pronounced F*ck, because of the missing 2 front teeth)

~"My Daddy's a fool."

~"If I could wish for anything I'd wish for a big pet shark to eat my Mom & Dad so I can be the ruler of the house & eat whatever I want."

I could go on & on & on & on with the incredible things that come out of my little darlings mouths. Unfortunately, I don't get to laugh until I get home from work.. And sometimes it's hard not to laugh at school... Children are so honest and innocent some times, y ou've got to love it!

I wish I could be that honest all of the time! Don't You?

Somtimes work seems like a part out of Kindergarten Cop, LOL!

Welcome to My Blog... My name is Dana and I'm a 27 (almost 28) year old Kindergarten Teacher from New Jersey. I decided to start a blog because one of my best friends, Danielle, recently started one (check her out at New Mommy Rant) and really seems to enjoy it! I thought that I'd love a place to go to every day to "Just Talk."

Sometimes we need a place to come to and vent! Sometimes we need a place to come to get away. This is my place to "Just Talk", to share new "secret" recipes, to make new friends, to review products, to rant and rave about everyday life.

I graduated college with a BA in Communication in Radio and TV. I had a great internship with VH1 in NYC, but being in the City at the time of 911 I rethought commuting and working there everyday. So I decided after I graduated to go back and get my Masters in Education. I have been a teacher for 3 years now. Being a Kindergarten Teacher you always have to be on your toes, keep your eyes open, and be REALLY happy! I love my students and enjoy teaching them. It is truly rewarding to see it all click within them, espceially when they read their 1st sentence! So with all of that said I'll spill my 1st secret - I don't know if I want to be a Teacher anymore! Now What? :(
