I Believe #2

I did a post similiar to this a while ago.....

I believe that what hurts you only makes you stronger.

I believe that good things happen to those that wait.

I believe that it'll be my day soon.

I believe that I have the best friends a girl could ask for.

I believe that it's ok to catch up with someone you once loved.

I believe that by working hard you will achieve your dreams.

I believe that sometimes you have to make your own luck.

I believe that sometimes good people get the short end of the stick.

I believe that you don't have to like everyone, even people you're suppossed to.

What do you believe in today?

The Curse

So I have got this new girl who was admitted the other day.... She suffers from severe ODD. For those of you that don't know ODD is
Oppositional defiant disorder. They say even the best-behaved children can be difficult and challenging at times. Teens are often moody and argumentative, but if the child or teen has a persistent pattern of tantrums, arguing, and angry or disruptive behaviors toward you and other authority figures, he or she may have oppositional defiant disorder.

So when she came into the class the other day you can imagine that all she wanted to do was give me a hard time, refusing to do anything I asked... This is how our converstation went:

Me: hi how are you today?
Her: horrible thanks for asking!
Me: sorry, well let's try and have a good time in class.
Her: I'm not going to have a good time cause I don't want to be here and I'm not going to do anything you want me to.
Me: OK.. well you have to do something or you need to go to the "time out room!" (cause that's the rule the Dr. nurses made)
Her: ok then I'm going to time out (as she throws her book across the room)
Me: ok, but I'd like you to stay and try and work on what I have planned.
Her: I wish I was home so I could put a curse on you and some of the other staff here.
Me: well isn't that great, thanks!
Her: I do believe in Black Magic ya know!!

There is never a dull moment at work!!! Let's hope I get on her good side before she goes home or there will be a voo-doo doll with my name written all over it!! If I start feeling sharp pains in my side or in my head a few weeks from now remind me of this conversation!!!!

Happy Friday

Happy Friday friends!
I know this was a short work week for most of us, but I will say that this week has been lingering on forever and ever... Brian and i are on totally different schedules this week.. He is working on a project about and hour away from here in a school so he has to do the construction after hours which sucks for me! He's been getting home after midnight and i'm already in bed sleeping - then I leave for work around 6:30 and he's still fast asleep in bed...

That is why I am looking forward to the weekend - sleeping in, relaxing, and just being lazy! We have nothing to do this weekend and I will say that I am very, VERY happy about that!
If you are looking for a relaxing weekend definitely check out some of these tips:

~Get up as soon as you open your eyes in the morning. (No earlier than 8 am, and no later than 11 am.)
~Eat a nice hot breakfast such as frozen waffles, pop tarts, pancakes, you name it! Along with that, a cup of hot tea or coffee is recommended. Also, orange juice is a great morning drink, because it will give you all the energy you need for the day of relaxation!
~Take a long, hot shower or bath to get you up and awake, then either get in a clean pair of pajamas or a comfortable outfit such as sweatpants and a sweatshirt.
~Get on the computer, watch your favorite show, listen to music, etc.
Eat again then relax and do whatever suits your interests. Some interesting ideas are to meditate, read, do your hair, dress up for fun, whatever your heart desires!
~If you're home alone, then let loose and be yourself completely. Do something silly or stupid, scream, release all the week's stress in some just plain dumb ways. You'll feel much better.
~If it's raining outside, go walk in the rain; or if you dare, dance in the rain! Just have fun.
I hope you enjoy your weekend!!

Oh yeah, don't forget to enter my giveaway
and read the
great review on the Yummie Tummie!!!

Interview

I got this from Carmen at La Petite Belle. She is a great Bloggy Bud - if you haven't checked her out what are you waiting for......

Before posting my answers, here are some rules so you can participate:

1. If you want to participate, leave me a comment saying, “Interview me.” (And your e-mail address, please.)

2. I will respond by emailing you five questions. I get to pick the questions.

3. You will update your blog with the answers to the questions.

4. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the same post.

5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.
So... Here are the questions she asked me:
1) What made you start a blog?
I started a blog because one of my best girl friends Danielle started her own blog, New Mommy Rant. She was having so much fun with it and it really seemed like a great way to conenct with people and make friends. It also seemed like a great way to relieve stress and thoughts and feelings. I am sooo glad I did! I lvoe my blog and all of my readers.. Not to mention the great friends I have made!
2) If you were in a deserted island and could only bring one person with you, who would that be? (you can pick someone you do or do not know)
If I was stranded on a desert island and could only bring one person it would be Brian. Brian is my best friend so having him on the island with me I know that I would never stop laughing, never stop smiling, never stop feeling loved and cared for. With him with me I always feel safe and secure. Besides he is someone I would never want to be without!
3) If you were only allowed to read ONE more book before you died, which book would you pick?
Probably book number 2 in the Twilight series since that is what I am reading right now!
4) If you could go back in time and re-do something in your life, what would that be?
I don't think I would re-do anything in my life. I truly feel that the experiences I have gone through made me the person i am today! But if I had to pick one thing I'd probably would have given my Dad a hug the last time I saw him instead of just saying goodbye.
Little did I know that was the last time I would ever see him.
5) What would you tell your 10 year old self if you saw her sitting in front of you right now?
This is a tough one! But I'd probably remind myself to slow down and enjoy being a child. When you are little you are in such a rush to grow up and then when you're grown up you wish you could get those innocent moments back and hide from all of the scary resposiblities that comes along with being an adult... So that's what I would tell myself.....

A new Beginning

When Barack Obama takes the oath of office today, he will do so upon the Bible that his personal political hero, Abraham Lincoln, used for his own swearing in, in 1861.
Using Lincoln's Bible is one of a few personal touches that Obama has put on the inaugural ceremony.
Though I don't really like incorporating TV in the classroom, today I will! I feel that it is important for children to watch the presidential Inauguration, especially one that is set to break all records. This particular inauguration is set to break all records: it will be the most costly (which I don't really aggree with, I mean seriously we are in an economic crisis - 50 million dollars to protect and serve a crowd of 2.5 million), most security-conscious, and most watched in U.S. history.
By lunchtime, the United States will have its 44th president. I just hope with this new president we will find it to be an easier country to live in economically!!

Day Off... I Don't Think So

So we all know that today is Martin Luther King Jr Day, a well know federal holiday right? A perk of being a teacher you get off holidays throught out the school year as well as a nice long break in the summer!! An added bonus to the long days, snotty (literally) kids, short lunch breaks, and headache filled days... So you can imagine that when I found out on Friday that my much needed, much deserved holiday today wasn't going to be a day off, but a professional development days... Us teachers ahve them throughout the year to keep us up to date in our profession. So today I had a professional development day and though it was nice to be out of the classroom/hospital - it would have been even nicer to sleep in, stay in my PJ's, and relax on the couch while watching bad reality TV and catchin up on my Soaps.. Instead I treacked 45 minutes upnorth in the snow for what felt like a really bad lunch.. Don't get me wrong it was so awesome meeting new people, I just didn't feel like I really learned anything today!! I guess you win some and lose some right? All i know is that I'm looking forward to my next day off in February which happens to be President's Day - woo hoo for the presidents!!!!!!

Addicted

So last weekend Brian and I went to Best Buy since we had tons of gift cards from Christmas. And now I'm addicted to this....

That is right ladies... And gentleman.... Dr. Christian Troy and his gorgeous face (and body) have captured my heart, lol!!!! I am soooo loving the show! I am so addicted that Brian and I have finished the whole 1st season since last Saturday and today we went back to Best Buy and got season 2, LOL!!! I know... I know....

But his face and that body!! I can't get enough, lol.. No but really, I think the show is awesome.. The story line is great and the acting is pretty good! The only warning I'd give if you've never seen the show - Don't eat dinner while watching! Some of the season are pretty graphic... But we are talking about 2 high profile plastic surgeons so there is bound to be blood and yuck!

What i'm fortunate for is the fact that I don't have to wait another week to watch another episode.. I think that Nip Tuck is on Season 6 on FX so I have multiple season to get through before I am even caught up. So i can just continue to keep watching my new addiction over and over and over.. So if you haven't seen the show I highly recommend it! You won't want to turn it off... I mean look at him, who would want to turn it off?.....

How Excited Am I?

So... How excited am I that I got my first paycheck direct deposited straight into my bank account last night while I was sleeping? My answer...... Soooo excited!!!
Hallelujah!!!!!!
I knew I left my old job for a good, no GREAT reason.. And that's right ladies and gentleman.. The new job showed me the money, lol... I knew that going in early and staying late would make me feel great at some point during this new adventure I've been on lately!!!
And ya know what's even better(well not even better, but just as good)? I love the job!! You probably getting sick on me saying this and I promise I'll stop.... SOON!!! lol... But I LOVE the job!! I love the kids, the people I work with, the atmosphere!! I love it all.. And I don't mind going in early!! But the paychecks definately are a great added bonus...
I am happy I made the right choice. Like anyone, as you enter a new phase in your life and start something new change can be hard, very hard! And it can either go in 2 directions - bad or good! You will ask ytourself am I making the right choice, will it be ok, will I be happy, will I be liked, will I like it, will I make it? Thankfully my story has had a great ending.... so far!! If I could give you advice, any of you that may be looking to begin a new job or change something major in your life I would say to take that leap and make sure you jump high; cause if you don't. You'll always be wondering what if!! And I think the "what if" is the worst of all!!!

9 Tips That Could Save a Woman's Life

Crucial
Because of recent abductions
in daylight hours, refresh yourself
of these things to do
in an emergency situation...
This is for you,
and for you to share
with your wife,
your children,
everyone you know.
After reading these 9 crucial tips ,
forward them to someone you care about.
It never hurts to be careful
in this crazy world we live in.
1 Tip from Tae Kwon Do :
The elbow is the strongest point
on your body.
If you are close enough to use it, do!
2. Learned this from a tourist guide
in New Orleans
If a robber asks for your wallet and/or purse,
DO NOT HAND IT TO HIM .
Toss it away from you....
chances are that he is more interested
in your wallet and/or purse than you,
and he will go for the wallet/purse.
RUN LIKE MAD IN THE OTHER DIRECTION!

3. If you are ever thrown into the trunk of a car,
kick out the back tail lights and stick your arm out the hole
and start waving like crazy.
The driver won't see you, but everybody else will.
This has saved lives.
4. Women have a tendency to get into their cars
after shopping, eating, working, etc.,
and just sit
(doing their checkbook, or making a list, etc.
DON'T DO THIS!)
The predator will be watching you, and this
is the perfect opportunity for him to get in
on the passenger side, put a gun to your head,
and tell you where to go.
AS SOON AS YOU GET INTO YOUR CAR ,
LOCK THE DOORS AND LEAVE. If someone
is in the car
with a gun
to your head
DO NOT DRIVE OFF,
repeat:
DO NOT DRIVE OFF!
Instead gun the engine
and speed into anything, wrecking the car.
Your Air Bag will save you.
If the person is in the back seat
they will get the worst of it
As soon as the car crashes
bail out and run.
It is better than having them find your body
in a remote location.
5 . A few notes about getting
into your car in a parking lot,
or parking garage:
A.) Be aware:
look around you,
look into your car,
at the passenger side floor ,
and in the back seat
B.) If you are parked next to a big van,
enter your car from the passenger door .
Most serial killers attack their victims
by pulling them into their vans while the women
are attempting to get into their cars.
C.) Look at the car
parked on the driver's side of your vehicle,
and the passenger side.. If a male is sitting alone
in the seat nearest your car, you may want to walk back
into the mall, or work, and get a
guard/policeman to walk you back out.
IT IS ALWAYS BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY. (And better paranoid than dead.)
6. ALWAYS take the elevator
instead of the stairs.
(Stairwells are horrible places to be alone
and the perfect crime spot.
This is especially true at NIGHT!)
7. If the predator has a gun
and you are not under his control,
ALWAYS RUN!
The predator will only hit you (a running target)
4 in 100 times; And even then,
it most likely WILL NOT be a vital organ.
RUN, Preferably in a zig -zag pattern!
8. As women, we are always trying
to be sympathetic:
STOP
It may get you raped, or killed.
Ted Bundy, the serial killer, was a good-looking,
well educated man, who ALWAYS played
on the sympathies of unsuspecting women.
He walked with a cane, or a limp, and often
asked 'for help' into his vehicle or with his vehicle,
which is when he abducted his next victim.
9. Another Safety Point:
Someone just told me that her friend heard
a crying baby on her porch the night before last,
and she called the police because it was late
and she thought it was weird. The police told her
'Whatever you do, DO NOT
open the door.'
The lady then said that it sounded like the baby
had crawled near a window, and she was worried
that it would crawl to the street and get run over.
The policeman said, 'We already have a unit on the way,
whatever you do, DO NOT open the door.'
He told her that they think a serial killer
has a baby's cry recorded and uses it to coax
women out of their homes thinking that someone
dropped off a baby He said they have not verified it,
but have had several calls by women saying that
they hear baby's cries outside their doors
when they're home alone at night.

Playing Catch-Up

So Brian and I are hoping to move sometime near the Spring. We figured to let me get settled in with the new job and save up a little more money and then move. We're not going to move far, we're actually thinking about moving back to the town we moved from. And lucky enough thats the same town I'm working in now. But we'll see.... If we find a place that's more reasonable then obviously we'll take that!!! Only time will tell i guess! I've had my eyes open and just taking a look and what's what so I'm a little more prepared! But though I love where I am now, it's getting to become way tooooo small for us! We want to be able to spread out a little more.
I'll keep you posted with that - it should be sometime between March and the end of April! Just in time for the nice weather!!!!!

We also got invited to go to Florida for a long weekend in March to stay with friends at their parent's vacation house. we were considering going because all we really would ned to pay for were plane tickets and food. But after talking about things I think we decided to save that money instead! I'd rather put that money towards the new place or something new for it like a TV or new couch, etc.. Something that will last longer then 3 night and four days... I mean don't get me wrong, I'd love to go for a getaway to Florida, but I did just go to Vegas... We're trying to be smarter.... And i think we made a good decision, a smart decision....

Babywearing Pluses

As most of you know my cousin recently had her 1st baby. For her baby shower I bought her a really cool pouch so she would be able to become a baby wearer. She didn’t seem so into it, mostly because I don’t think she knew much about it. After the baby was born I noticed or heard that she was having a difficult time getting adjusted with her new little angel. So I bought her a Sleepy Wrap in hopes to make her and the baby’s transition a little more comfortable. I know I don’t have a baby… Yet!!!! But I’ve certainly seen 1st hand all of the benefits from Moms who wear their babies.

It is seen that:
Sling babies cry less. They seem to love to be close to their mother or father and feel more secure, especially right after birth because they fell more wrapped up and close, like they did when they were in the womb.
Sling babies learn more. If infants spend less time crying and fussing, what do they do with the free time? They learn! Sling babies spend more time in the state of quiet alertness. This is the behavioral state in which an infant is most content and best able to interact with his environment. It may be called the optimal state of learning for a baby. Researchers have also reported that carried babies show enhanced visual and auditory alertness.
Since baby wearing has become so popular they really have designed and created some awesome hotslings.

I know that I am super excited to one day soon have a baby and become a baby wearing Mama!!! I think it's a wonderful thing not only the Mom, but Dad can enjoy too.... I think as a whole it can bring the enitre family closer!! And I love it! Check out baby slings to get your own fashionable Sling today!!!!

I Think.....

I know once we grow up we get set in a routine. We go to work, come home, eat dinner, go to bed, get up, go to work.... Get My Picture?

But I've noticed that my life is a lil bland lately!! But I think i'm ok with that! I think that I feel this way mostly because i am exhausted when I come home from work! I know I've only been at the new job for a week, but even at my old job I busted my butt to work hard and make money. And when I leave for work at 6:30 in the morning and don't come home til 6 I'm tired! And all I want to do is eat dinner and relax.

Brian keeps pushing me to go to the Gym... And god knows I really want to! But i am beat when I come home from work! The last thing I want to do is go to the gym and work out. Cause then I still have to come home shower, cook dinner, etc.. It would be 11 pm before I even sat down.. and that would be NOT GOOD!!!! Call me lazy.. I call me a hard worker!!! LOL..

I mean I have a great time on the weekends, we go out with friends, go to dinners, and stay home and relax together, watch movies!! But I'm stuck in a little bit of a rut. When do I find time for me? I want to be that independent, hard working, successful women that can do it all!!!

A Late Wordless Wednesday

I was going to call this one "Weird Wednesday." But since it's not wednesday anymore I don't know what to call it... Haha
About 3 weeks ago Brian was craving Burgers & Dogs for dinner. So I went to the store the next day and got stuff to have a Winter BBQ... I started up the grill, prepped the food, and then Brian cooked.. I was inside making a salad when he came asking me if I thought something was wrong with the food. I turned around to see this..

These were BEST brand Hot Dogs from the same package.. Weird, right? I refused to eat them....I mean look at them, that little one shrunk sooo much.. Eeww.... Gross.....

A Love Affair

So today was my first day completely on my own.. No boss - and no one looking over my shoulder! Are you wondering how it went? Well this is how it went: I called Brian on my way out of work..
Him: Hello
Me: Hi
Him: what's going on how was your day?
Me: You Should be Jealous
Him: WHY?!?
Me: Beacause I am in looooove with work!!
Seriously, it went soooooo well! I did an awesome job! Such an awesome job I get an email from the Big Wig in the company.. Sweeet...
But even better.. I am really, really, truly connecting with the kids.. which is kinda bad because their stay in the hospital is short! And I hate getting attached and then having them go... But good because they like and trust me! A nurse told me today that one of the kids was talking about me in his group therapy season about how much he liked me and how he wished I was his teacher all year long!! And only after 3 days..... Not bad right?

Monday, January 5, 2009

it was grrrrreat!

so my first day went great!! but i am so tired and just
so exhausted...i can't believe i even got into the shower when i got home!!!
but i wanted to say hi and let you know that my day was wonderful, it really was... I hope all of the rest of my days go this smooth.. but i know that prob won't be the case, oh well!! thanks for all of your kind, encouraging words.. your support is greatly appreciated! It really, really is! thanks so much!!!
As i said to Danielle, 1 day down the rest if my life to go, lol....

Oh yeah - i may be MIA a lil this week from commenting until i get accustomed to my new schedule!! but know that i am still reading while i lay in bed and rest my feet and my brain!!1

And I'm off

I'm up early to get ready for my 1st official day at my new job! And I'm not embarrassed to admit that I'm scared out of my mind! I know this is something that I have to do, but it doesn't mean it's easy. Brian thinks I should be excited but all I really feel is nerves and something that resembles wanting to throw up!

I guess all I have to do is get through the 1st week and I'll be all good! I've prepared some good icebreaker and getting to know you activities for my lessons today and I'm just going to go from there.

Since i'm teaching within a hospital my bosses aren't going to be on site all of the time. But today and tomorrow 1 of them will be with me just incase I need help, have questions, etc.. I guess this rocks me and my nerves a lil bit too... Oh well...

So i'm off to my first day.. wish me luck and keep your fingers crossed it all goes well and that I like it!! Hey ya know never know wat could come from this!! We'll see!!! At least the paychecks will be bigger..

I'll be back later to give you an update...

xoxo

Just Some Thoughts

I have been sooooo crazy busy lately I have had not time to blog! (and I wonder why I'm super stressed out!?! Blogging truly is my outlet and my sanity) Hopefully when my life starts up and I will get on a routine and start to feel normal again!

Anyway, I have been preparing to start the new job on Monday the 5th and I've trying to relax and do the things I need to before my vacation ends.

Today I cleaned out my old classroom... As a teacher, it is sooooooo crazy how much stuff you accumulate each year!! Books, folders full of papers, pictures, games, ect.. I could keep going and going and going.... But I finally got it all done after spending the day there!!! I was dreading that.. I guess because it really made it official.. That is no longer my job, my home, my comfort zone.. I am now forced to be a grown-up all over again and move forward with my life...

Though I look forward to getting comfortable and used to my new job I have nothing but axious feelings and thoughts. I ask myself, "will i be good at it? good like my old job? will i fit in? will i make friends, will people like me? will I hate it? what do i do if i hate it?"

I guess this is natural....I'm just hoping, I guess, for a great, new start!! I've been thinking about my future as this New Year begins and I really want this to be my year! I want to be happy, and healthy and get all of the things I deserve!! Cause I deserve it all!!! I think I need to tell myself that a little more often!! Maybe I'll start to believe it!!!

Lots of Celebrations

Happy New Year to all... May 2009 be the best year yet!!!

ALSO,

a very Happy Birthday to my best friend Danielle.. I hope this year brings you much health, happiness, and lots of love. I love you very much and wish nothing but the best for you and your family!!!! Have a great day and a great 2009....
