Bridesmaid Dress Disaster

So I'm super excited that my brother is getting married in exactly a month..
I love my future sister-in-law and can't wait to party at their wedding..
I was even more excited once they got engaged and Heather(the bride to be) asked me to be in the wedding... The BIG downer was when my dress came in 6 SIZES TOO BIG and the bridal shop said they wouldn't and couldn't do anything about it!! The kicker is that the owner of Bridal Store where we ordered the dress is my future sister-in-laws best friend - who is also in the wedding!! Can you believe that!! If I were her i would be SO SUPER EMBARRASSED!!
I could understand if my dress was a little big - but the fact that they ordered me the wrong size and now they expect me to pay for altereations!! Come on!! I brought my dress to 2 different places and they said it would be about $300 dollars to alter since the entire dress needed to be fixed (the bones need to be taken out and the top needs to be taken in, the sides, the bottom, the sash needs to be cut and shortened.. Oh did I forget that the whole dress needs to be cut in two because it is that big!!
Luckily my mom works at a Clothing store and her good friend is a tailor. She said she would do it for me - and only charge me $100 dollars, but she did say she should have charged somewhere around $400..... Can you believe that? I need to go in this weekend for a fitting - I'll let you know how it works out!
I'm just sorry I didn't take a before pic... Here is what the dress looks like:

Hopefully it will all work out..
Sorry for the rant.. I needed to vent!

that dress is gorgous, but I can't believe they screwed up and then expect you to pay for their mistake.. HELLOOOOOO!

Wow! Sounds to me like someone wants to be the pretties bridesmaid at the wedding and did you in, I am just saying!

Bridesmaid dresses are so overrated. Just a headache and waaay too much money!

Good luck!

That is ridiculous. I can't believe you have to pay for the alterations!

holy crap!
I would be MAD! And your future SIL should be embarrassed!
Sorry about the hassle :(

It's a beautiful dress though :)

HOW NOT FUNNY. OMG I would be so pissed. As if weddings don't cost and aren't inconvenient enough!!

But that's cool I just ordered a Bill Levkhoff for a wedding in August. :)

I hate when that happens!

oh what a cute dress, but wow. that's ridiculous that they got the size so incredibly wrong.

Disasters like this make me happy to be male. If my tux was too big- I would just try to gain a little weight until it was snug.

Aye aye aye! I think the store or the bride should have stepped in. That's too much to ask a bridesmaid to put up with. Glad you found a good tailor to fix it for a great price!

I am SHOCKED that a dress could cost that much to ALTER!!!

I got my wedding dress a week before I got married online for less than $100.

that dress is amazing...though not in 6 sizes too big! That happened to a friend of mine...the shop claimed they ordered by her measurements and she must have lost weight (uhm, wouldn't she know she lost that much weight!)....basically they didn't/wouldn't pay to fix their mistake....which is so wrong. Sorry you have to pay to fix their mistake. Hope it works out well!

That happened to me once too when I was in a wedding. They measured me and when the dress came in it was so huge it just hung off of me. But, they didn't make me pay for it- that's just wrong. I would put up a big fight if I were you.

Wow...I think I'd have to stop payment on it or SOMEthing. They have you over a barrel because there's nothing you can do...you need a dress. Hope everything works out!

i know i have already commented on this but it still irritates me ;)
I bought my bridesmaids their dresses and shoes. They had to travel a few hours to the city we were married in, so I thought it was nice thing to do.
Maybe the bride can step up if the store won't (which is insanity, but if I get on that soapbox, you'll kindly ask me not to return)

That is a ridiculous amount of money to pay for someone else's mistake! It's a beautiful dress though...

That totally sucks. I am a little worried that my alterations are going to be around that much for Erika's dress. Let us know how the fitting goes.

That really is aggravating. I cannot believe that it's that ridiculous! Luckily, your mom is helping you out. ... Are any other bridesmaids having the same problem? Why was the dress ordered so large anyway?

It was a mistake that the dress was ordered sooooo BIG!!! No one else is having difficulties!!! Ofcourse it would happen to me, LOL

What a horrible store to not take responsability for their mistake! It is even worse having someone linked to the store involved in the wedding. Just one more reason I'm all for destination weddings!
