Super Size Me

So last night I previewed Super Size Me because I'm showing it in school today. I'm having the kids create their own menus for the days as if they were able to buy or eat anything from anywhere for 1 entire day. I'm curious to see how they would plan their meals.
Then I'm going to give them a list of Foods and the Calories and I'm going to have them add up their possible total calorie "intake" for the meals they planned for the day.
And then after that we are going to watch the Super Size Me Documentary so they can truly see the effects that Fast Food will and can have on your body.
I'm not saying that I NEVER eat french fries or an occasional McDonalds cheeseburger (once a year , I rarely every have fast food). I figured it could be something fun and interesting for the kids to watch...

Here is a brief overview of the movie:

What happens when you eat McDonald's for thirty days, three meals a day, super-sized when asked, widely sampling selections from the entire menu from Big Macs meals to yogurt parfaits, salads and fish filets? With a team of highly qualified doctors monitoring his health every step of the way, director Morgan Spurlock answers this question: your body falls apart.
Spurlock also has the perfect narrative hook: himself. Following in the tradition of Michael Moore, Spurlock is the narrative hero of his own film – and this is just fine. An articulate speaker, he is also a compassionate listener and a wonderful guide.

Super Size Me" is a terrific film that takes the seemingly not-so-sexy subjects of health, nutrition, and corporate greed and turns them into informative entertainment. Crisply edited, Spurlock's steady stream of meals at McDonalds are cut with interviews with his vegan chef girlfriend, his concerned nutritionists and doctors, fast food consumers, and corporate lobbyists.

A Good Movie - MILK

So I was very interested in seeing Milk, especially since Sean Penn won the Oscar for Best Actor. It was sure it be a winner right?

So it is a bit of a relief to report that Milk is an outstanding film, a vibrant and intelligent recreation of a very particular time and place that throbs with heart and humor and (occasionally) real anger and anguish. It's not a perfect film, to be sure, but it is a powerful one, regardless of what happened in California in November.
Sean Penn stars as Harvey Milk, a closeted Republican insurance man who hit 40 and realized that he had done nothing in his life that he "could be proud of." With his young, supportive boyfriend (James Franco) in tow, Milk grew out his hair and moved to San Francisco, where he settled into the predominately gay area around the Castro theatre. From his camera store, Harvey observed the homophobia of area police and even his neighbors, and, before he realized it, had become something of a (pardon the parallel) "community organizer," earning the nickname of "the mayor of Castro Street."
I thought it was a pretty good movie and recommend seeing it! I love watching movies that were based on Real Life events and Real People.. And this was a good one! Check it out! Sean Penn really deserved the Oscar, he did a great job! Well done Mr. Penn.....
Have you seen any good movies lately I can add to my Netflix Queue?

He's Just Not That Into You!?

So early on Saturday morning the girls and myself met at the local Mall/Movie theater to go see the new movie "He's Just Not That nto You." It was soooo much fun getting together with the girls and seeing a girly movie, god knows my wonderful boyfriend doens't like sitting through the girly ones, haha!!

Anyway, the movie was really, really cute! But I will say that it wasn't too great for the single girls psychie if you know what I mean. I'm not single but I'm not married so I guess this kind fo applys to me. It's funny cause I came home and this is the conversation that Brian and I had.

Him: So, How'd you like the movie?

Me: Ehh..

Him: I didn't want you to see that movie!

Me: Why not?

Him: Cause now I'm afraid you think I'm not into you.

Me: {Laughing} Oh please, it's a movie!

Him: Now you think I don't love you right?

Me: It's just a movie!

But I will say that I can see how it may make single, unmarried girls question themselves just a little. I mean I don't! I know Brian loves me and ewants to be with me. I know he loves being with me and that one day we will get married. But it doesn't mean some of those things aren't thought about! I mean come on - you kinda can't help it. But that doesn't mean I directly apply it to myself. I will admit some of the things got me thinking but ya know what.. Everyone's life is different and so is everyone's relationship. And I don't think it's fair to judge every male, and female for that matter but what someone happens to or to not write in a book.

So there's my point! It's a movie folks and people shouldn't read into it anymore then they do! Don't think something cause someone says that's not how it's suppossed to happen. Live your life for you and not by what other people say or think!!!

An A+++ for Batman

Let me start off by saying that The Dark Knight was AWESOME....This movie will truly big the Blockbuster Hit of the Summer(maybe even of the year). It was really that good..

Even if you're not a Batman Fanatic (like Brian & myself) you will totally l.o.v.e this film... It truly was a masterpiece... Christian Bale was fantastic and Heather Ledger was out of this world.... He truly left an unforgetable performance.. It left me truly amazed...

The only thing that we weren't crazy about was Maggie Gyllenhaal who played Batman's long time love, Rachel Dawes.. She is a very good actress, but I feel she lacked sex-appeal! You think of Bruce Wayne as a handsome, Playboy, Bachelor.... And naturally you think of him having a beautiful chick on his arm.. But that she wasn't... I mean she isn't ugly by any means, she just lacked something in the appeal factor to me...

A little Back Story if you didn't already know:
The follow-up to the action hit 'Batman Begins,' 'The Dark Knight' reunites director Christopher Nolan and star Christian Bale, who reprises the role of Bruce Wayne/Batman.With the help of Lieutenant Jim Gordon and the committed new District Attorney, Harvey Dent, Batman sets out to destroy organized crime in Gotham City for good. The triumvirate initially proves to be effective, but they soon find themselves prey to a rising criminal mastermind known as The Joker, who thrusts Gotham into anarchy and forces The Dark Knight ever closer to crossing the fine line between hero and vigilante.Academy Award nominee Heath Ledger portrays arch-villain The Joker, and Aaron Eckhart plays District Attorney Harvey Dent. Maggie Gyllenhaal joins the cast in the role of Rachel Dawes. Returning from 'Batman Begins' are Gary Oldman as Lieutenant Jim Gordon; Oscar winner Michael Caine as Alfred;
and Oscar winner Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox.

The action in The Dark Knight was vastly superior to Batman Begins in every way, shape and form. And we’re not just talking about fight scenes either. The movie has chases and crashes and fight scenes and non-stop action throughtout the entire movie...as this movie begins, the clean-up efforts by Batman and district attorney Harvey Dent have infuriated Gotham's criminals, who are escalating their efforts and working together to spread corruption throughout the community so that no one trusts anyone. A man with a mask can be anyone -- or more than one. Copycat Batmans (Batmen) are showing up with something the real Batman never carries -- guns. "That wasn't exactly what I had in mind when I said I wanted to inspire people," Wayne says. The line between justice and vengeance is blurring.

If I were you, I'd go and check it out!! This film grossed
18 million 489 thousand dollars($18,489,000) in the first 12:01 AM show.. Most movies are happy to have that in their opening weekend!! I am so looking forward to see what the over total for opening weekend will be!!
If you did go see the movie what did you think?

I am So Excited....................... TDK, Here We Come!

Most of you don't know how much Brian LOVES batman..... He is truly an enthusiast! Since he was a little boy in diapers he would run round the house with a pillow case tied around his neck, making believe it was his cape! He jumped from Roof Tops as a teenager, no seriously he did! I think he truly believed he was Batman - Hell, I think he still believes he's Batman, LOL.... So you can imagine how excited we are for today!!

For those of you that don't know, today (actually 12:01 AM) is the big opening weekend of TDK a.k.a The Drak Knight (which is the new Batman Film)! Brian and I have been waiting for this day ever since the release of Batman Begins in July 2005... When that came out we saw it 3 times the 1st day! Yes, we're addicts!! I think I've seent that movie about 50 times - and NO I am not exaggerating! Seriously, I'm not!

Another reason I am also looking forward to TDK is because I am looking forward to seeing Heath Ledger's last performance... I hear he was so unbelievable and amazing that he will for sure get nominated for an Academy Award.. Isn't that amzing?..... But, sad that he's not here to see how everyone reacts to what has been said to be his greatest masterpiece! R.I.P Heath!! You are missed...

So, today, i actually took off of work today(yes, I took a day off of work to see a Batman Movie) so Brian and I can catch the 1st show and a few after that, LOL... I am so happy to have the day off - what a great way to start off the weekend...

Check out the following clip, especially if you're clueless about TDK!!!

Doesn't it look soooo good?

I'll be back later with a review of the movie!! Is anyone else planning on checking this movie out this weekend? I think it will beat out Spidey's opening weekend, atleast I hope it does...

I Won't Give Anything Away; I Promise

I love Sex and The City so much!

Carrie Bradshaw, Samantha Jones, Charlotte York and Miranda Hobbes have been in my life for years. From day 1 I fell in love with these women - and since the show ended I have missed them!

Finally, they're back; even if it is only for a short period of time!
I saw the movie yesterday with one of my girlfriends - and I will say that it was everything I had hoped for, it totally met all of my expectations! If you are a HUGE SATC fan like

I am you will love it! I laughed and cried and cried and laughed over and over for 2 and a 1/2 hours!

So, I recommend that you go and see this masterpiece and then come back so we can chat all about what went on- the clothes, the girls, the guys, the drinks, the parties, everything!!

GO... NOW.. What are you waiting?

I'm Obessed With Netflix

Ever since my brother got Brian(the BF) & I a Year of Netflix for Christmas I have been totally obsessed with getting movies! I used to get my movies from Blockbuster but Netflix is even better and SO easy since they deliver right to your door. It really is the BEST gift ever and I recommend that EVERYONE get Netflix, especially if you love movies like we do! We have the 2(movies) at a time - unlimited movies a month plan. I have suggested Netflix to lots of my friends and they love it now that they've joined. It really is worth it, movies from Blockbuster average around $5.00 a movie and this plan works out to be less - plus they deliver it right to your door and then send the movie back in the pre-paid envelope.. I know what you're probably thinking - why am I plugging Netflix? And NO, I'm not working for them, I'm not getting anything from them; I just truly am SO happy with their services I wanted to spread the love to my Bloggy friends!

If you are interested in joining Netflix or want to see what it's about - drop me your email address and I will send you a free Month trial coupon!
