A Good Movie - MILK

So I was very interested in seeing Milk, especially since Sean Penn won the Oscar for Best Actor. It was sure it be a winner right?

So it is a bit of a relief to report that Milk is an outstanding film, a vibrant and intelligent recreation of a very particular time and place that throbs with heart and humor and (occasionally) real anger and anguish. It's not a perfect film, to be sure, but it is a powerful one, regardless of what happened in California in November.
Sean Penn stars as Harvey Milk, a closeted Republican insurance man who hit 40 and realized that he had done nothing in his life that he "could be proud of." With his young, supportive boyfriend (James Franco) in tow, Milk grew out his hair and moved to San Francisco, where he settled into the predominately gay area around the Castro theatre. From his camera store, Harvey observed the homophobia of area police and even his neighbors, and, before he realized it, had become something of a (pardon the parallel) "community organizer," earning the nickname of "the mayor of Castro Street."

I thought it was a pretty good movie and recommend seeing it! I love watching movies that were based on Real Life events and Real People.. And this was a good one! Check it out! Sean Penn really deserved the Oscar, he did a great job! Well done Mr. Penn.....

Lots of Stuff

We had such a busy weekend in preparation for our big move on wednesday! Thank goodness I took off of work on the 1st, and to think I wasn't going to...

In Preparation of moving I have become the Craigslist Queen. I have listed sooooo many things to see if they can be sold before we move. we are ready to trade up to some new things but would love to get rid of the old and use that money for thew new. We went out furniture shopping yesterday and found some GREAT things; like this awesome couch from Macy's Furniture. It's called Milano Leather Living Room Furniture Collection - Brian and I both really like the white leather sectional, especially since we're going to be living beachfront, but we think the Brown is so much more practical. So we are thinking the Brown Sectional with a

White Shag rug. We also found this really, really cool Lift Top Coffee table which would be so perfect for us. We are in need of buying a new kitchen table but we feel the lift top coffee table could be great for the inbetween. It's a regular coffee table and then it converts and lifts up 30 inches to a regular eat on kitchen table. I can't find a picture of it anymore but this is part of the collection and looks exactly the same but ours is the coffee table version.

I feel so overwhelmed with the moving and the packing but I know in the end it'll be so worth it!!!! I just have to keep in mind that I can't do everything at once. I need to take one thing at a time and go from there...

Another thing I don't like is that I have to go without my internet connection for a day or 2. But hey, at least I have my blackberry, lol!!! I know I know, I'm too much!! But everything else is set up! Cable TV and Internet with DVR HBO, Showtime, and Starz package (I'm working on the HowardTV, yes I'm a Stern Fan.. I know he's not for everyone, but he's interesting and I used to be in Radio so I like to listen to him and I LOVE Sattelite radio) Electric is set, Gas is set...... We are set!! I will def take before and after pics... Before we move any furniture in and then after we get completely settled (which probably won't be for awhile)!!! I will keep you posted!! Does anyone know where or have any recommendations for a great kitchen table set for 4? Nothing too big because we are limited for space in our kitchen. Let me know!!!

Birthday Giveaway

Many of you gave some good guesses!! I was actually born 2 months early at 11:43 pm weighing in at 4 pounds 2 ounces... I was a teeny, tiny baby!! I was put in a helicopter a few hours after I was born and flown to a children's specialized hospital because I had so many problems!! I actually stayed in the hospital for over a month.

29 Yikes!!

Where did my Twenties go? I can hardly believe that 29 years have already gone by!!! I've been going through something lately, something I like to call an early life crisis! I guess I had different plans for myself. I always expected would have had a better job earlier on and that maybe i'd be married with a kid or 2. I always thought I'd be married by the time I was 24, at least that's what I thought when I was a teenager! But we all know plans change and things def don't happen as we plan... So I guess I'm a little upset that my twenties are pretty much gone and that 30 is right around the corner.

I've realized that I'm letting people get to me... People on the outside of my relationship and life... And that's what's effecting me, and it shouldn't and now I know better!! I know I've touched on this topic before but some people just don't know how or when to keep their mouth shut! People don't realize things they say, even little insignifcant things can be hurtful! I think it's really, really important for people to think before they speak, because you never know what influence your words can have on others and their feelings and thoughts! I just thought I'd throw that out there!!

As for me - I'm happy and that's all that matters!!

Just wanted to let you know that in 13 days Brian and I will be moving in to our NEW, BEACHFRONT apartment!! AAAHAHHHHHAHAH..... It worked out!! I can't believe it worked out.. I'm usually not that lucky! And what's really great is that I am now only 2 blocks from work - so in the summer I can walk to work.. I was looking out the window by my office and I could see the top of my apartment complex!! So so so crazy, right? I thought I was really close to work before... Now I'm really going to be saving in gas big time.. I mean i only have a 30 second commute.. Oh my gosh I love it!!

Oh yeah, TGIF everyone... I hope you all have an awesome weekend..

And It Get's a Little Better

ok... so most of you know by now that recently Brian and I were exploring the option of buying a condo.. We were so excited; we had an offer in on one we really, really liked but came to a conclusion that maybe it's just not meant to be. I mean we still have our offer in and maybe if they come down to our price it'll work out...

On a good note - yesterday Brian and I were driving around by the beach and we saw this apartment for rent in this great building.. Which happens to be one of Brian's favorite apartment buildings by the beach..It's a smal two story complex with 24 units right ON the beach. That's right - right ON the beach, no joke. The apartment is a little small, has 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, a small enclosed living room, and a nice size kitchen. Perfect size for us, though it is a little small! But what is lacks in size makes up for a complete Ocean view from our living room, kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom!! And it's an end unit to boot with 2 entrances!!

And we loooooove end units. It is very hard to get an apartment in this comples, usually there is a very long wait! But we were lucky to drive by because the Unit became available on Monday and there is only 1 up for rent. So we put an application in and are just waiting to see what happens.. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!!

Bye Bye Condo

So I think it's safe to say that Brian and I are NOT getting the condo. That's right ladies and gentleman, you heard me right! Some things went down over the weekend and my dreram of being a 1st time homeowner has no pretty much come to an end!!

We are now on the move to rent another, bigger place that is closer to both of our jobs for another year or so and then revisit the idea of buying something!!

I cried yesterday for about an hour straight before drowning myself in Cosmos.. Which by the way made me feel SOOOOO much better. I know whats meant to be is meant to be and something better will come our way, I get it, i really do - I just wanted it. I figured getting this place would help us move right along the right path to happily ever after ya know?

But Brian said it best he said, "It's not where you come home to ever day after work it's who you come home to!" That instantly made me feel so much better. Cause I know I'd rather live in a cardboard box with him then live anywhere else without him!!

A New Woman

I feel like a new woman! I finally got my hair done after going a full 7 months without a haircut & a color. I will say that my hair looked like crap! I just got so busy witht he new job and stuff I never had time to go.. But I def feel reborn today man!!! Nothing better then a fresh haircut and new color to make you feel like yourself again... The only good thing is, is that I saved money over those 7 months!! So woohoo for me...

make myself pretty for you all, lol.....

Instant Gratification... I Think Not

Some of you may now and some of you may not but I'm the type of girl that likes to ask a question and get an answer right away!! I'm not about waiting, I'm not about beating around the bush. If I ask you a question I want an answer - if you ask me a question I'll give you answer..

That's why you can imagine that this whole real estate thing we're going through is driving me crazy! So crazy I'm losing sleep and getting tons of stress headaches, at least thats what I think they are from.

On Monday Brian and I put in an official signed contract on the condo we like. Then, that afternoon another condo (which happens to be in a lil nice condition) went on the market as well.

It makes me happy cause at least I know I have 2 places to negotiate on ya know. I'm just at a place where I want to know. These people from the first place are yaning our chain. I mean really, they have had their place on the market for over 6 months who's giving offers in this market? Not many people let me tell you!!!

So what we're going to do now is put an offer in on the other place and hope to play off of each other... I'm just hoping we get one of them, just comes down to who is going to give us the best deal!!! So much for my instant gratification!!!

A Little Rattled

I've been so busy lately, like I'm sure all of you have been to! Why is it that this time of year people get especially busy?

So here's whats been going on lately. Work is good but I can and will say that for the 1st time in 2 months (cause I've only been at the new job for about 2 months) I am a little nervous around one of the new kids that was admitted yesterday that suffers from psychosis. And people suffering from psychosis are said to be psychotic. psychotic, literally means abnormal condition of the mind, and is a generic psychiatric term for a mental state often described as involving a "loss of contact with reality." And that is something that he has lost - a loss of contact with reality. People experiencing psychosis may report hallucinations or delusional beliefs, and may exhibit personality changes and disorganized thinking. This may be accompanied by unusual or bizarre behavior, as well as difficulty with social interaction and impairment in carrying out the activities of daily living. People who are clinically found to be psychotic may simply be having particularly intense or distressing experiences

Though I don't let on I'm a little uneasy around this patient I am. I make sure it stand tall and be firm to show control eventhough part of me questions my safety. But I do feel torn. I feel like all it could take is one little thing to set him off and I just don't want to be that person that sets him off but I still need to inforce the rules in the class and that pertains to him also. One of my friends at work (one of the nurses) told me to becareful around him. He is a big kid that towers over little short me. I guess I have to watch my back and stay sharp. It's just a little uncalming knowing that at the drop of a hat something could happen.

On The Agenda

What a loooooong hellish week it's been! And all i gotta say is TGIF!

This won't be a long post today cause I cut my finger pretty bad last night and it's still throbbing...

Anyway, I will say that I am looking forward to this fun filled weekend of hanging out with friends and relaxing!!

Tonight the girls and I are having a Pizza & Bowling night which will fur sure be a GREAT time!! Let's just hope my thumb feels better or I'll be getting a bunch of gutterballs, lol...

Then, tomorrow Brian and I are going to Heather's House for dinner and a movie with her and her husband Ian!!

Sunday will be filled with laundry and sleeping in... Cause I sure as hell need to catch up on some sleep this weekend!!!! Even though sleeping in is like only til 8:30.. I hate that!! When I want to sleep I have to get up and when I get to sleep I wake up early... So we'll see...

Any big plans this weekend?.... Well, whatever you do enjoy it cause the weekends come and go way to quick..

And they're holding hands!! Your mouth drops in amazement and you don't know what to do!! And you know that it isn't a friendly "friend" dinner date cause you see them hold hands across the table. But your girl friend isn't a best friend, she's more of an acquaintance. And her boyfriend did see you having dinner at the same restaurant.

Condo Update & other Stuff

So today Brian and I are putting in a true, written offer for our new place. I guess now it's just a waiting game. I am just hoping that it's a good enough offer for them to except. I mean it is a very good offer and in todays market then should jump on it. I know we would!! I will keep you posted...

I had off yesterday due to the snow, thank god!! I could really use that extra day! I've been sooo busy with the house stuff, and cleaning up, and laundry that the weekends go by SO SO SO fast. So I will say it was nice to have an extra day off to lay around and due nothing. And even better was that Brian had off too.. Nothing better then being snowed in with the one you love... We watched movies and TV, and made good food and we even took a nap!!! I love mid day naps!!

So it's back to work today... Grr... But hey, at least it's a 4 day work week.. Which is sooo awesome! Always makes the week fly by! What sucks is that I don't have another day off now until Good Friday! OUCH!! That's over a month away!! Brian thinks I'm funny cause he says "you have off 2 days every week, and they're called the weekends!" But I feel that I am OWED those days after the week I work, that's just a given.. That's not a privilege thats my right as a working woman.... Call me silly..

I find it so much easier to menu plan. Not only for saving money but it's so much easier for us working girls! It's very, VERY hard to work all day long and then come home and cook good meals. But I have it mastered for sure..
